I Love Happy Tears!

I Love Happy Tears!

I just love happy tears!  Don’t you?  For those of you who do not know me, I’ve had my share of the other kind of tears.  In 2010 I had colon cancer and Lord Jesus healed me of it, I was healed by His stripes according to Isaiah 53:5!  Praise Jesus for divine health now and forever!  The whole story of how Jesus healed me is in my book, Believe in the Blood.  Throughout the spring of 2010 there were times of both kind of tears.  The tears that fell from being overwhelmed by the diagnosis and then the tears that fell in thanks to Jesus after receiving confirmation of His healing of me.

In this post I want to talk about a different time when I found myself in the midst of happy tears… the kind you can’t hold back because you are so filled with emotion.  It occurred to me how great it was to cry happy tears!  I know a lot of you know what I mean.  Sad tears and happy tears have to be a scientific phenomenon.  They are both made up of the same chemical composition when they fall from your eyes but what makes them is completely different, polar opposites in fact!  They drop from your eyes as the same tears but sad tears come from horribleness and happy tears come from wonderfulness.  How about that?  What other substance can we say that about?  Amazing!

Now we all get to go to heaven!

The uncontrollable happy tears came when I was watching my son, Dawson, get baptized about a year and a half ago.  He accepted Christ as his Savior on August 28, 2011, when he was 6 years old.  It was the sweetest thing in the whole world when my husband, Kyle, and Dawson and I got up from kneeling by his bed and him asking Jesus to be his Savior, and he hugged us and said, “Now we all get to go to heaven!”   Oh, can that boy make me cry happy tears!  So he was baptized in church a few weeks later and as we watched, Kyle and I just could not hold back our tears of joy.  What a wonderful gift to be able to cry happy tears and be that filled with hope and joy for our little boy.  Jesus did that.  He did all of it.  Christ is the reason we can be saved and have hope and joy and cry happy tears instead of sad ones.  Thank You, Jesus for happy tears!

I am so thankful for John 10:10 that says Jesus came to give us life and give it to us more abundantly!  Happy tears are included in abundant life.  Abundant life is there for the taking.  It is our right as children of God because Jesus already paid the price for it two thousand years ago.  My prayer for all of you today is that only happy tears fall from your face!
